About me
I’m George Saunders, a former NCAA Division 1 golfer and England National Team player.I spent five years in the United States competing at Junior College and Division 1 level, including Midland College, the University of Tennessee (SEC), and Virginia Commonwealth University (A10), where I graduated with a degree in Communications. My experience gave me a full understanding of what it takes to earn a US college golf scholarship—not just as a player, but as a student-athlete living it day to day.I created Fairway Scholarships to help junior golfers access the same opportunities, and to guide them through the recruitment process with real experience and honest support.
US College Golf
The NCAA is the highest level of college sport in the United States, where student-athletes compete while studying for a university degree. It is the main pathway for junior golfers aiming to combine elite competition with higher education in the US.There are multiple divisions and playing levels within US college golf, meaning opportunities exist for a wide range of junior golfers—not just the very top-ranked players.

Every application is reviewed individually to assess a player’s potential pathway into US college golf.We look at playing ability, tournament experience, and overall suitability for the US college golf system before advising on next steps.

Why Trust Fairway Scholarships

Fairway Scholarships is built on real first-hand experience of the US college golf system, not theory or second-hand advice. I have represented my country at junior level and have personally gone through every stage of the pathway in the United States. I played junior college golf at Midland College, which was ranked number one in the country during my time there, before transferring to the SEC to compete at NCAA Division I level for the University of Tennessee, where I played against some of the best college golfers in the world. I later transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communications while still competing at Division I level. I am now continuing to compete at an elite amateur level in Europe, which keeps me directly connected to high-performance golf. What makes this different from most agencies is that I have experienced every stage of the pathway — junior college, top Division I programmes, and life as a student-athlete — so I understand exactly what coaches are looking for, how recruitment really works, and what it takes to succeed once you arrive in the US system.
